Deadline to Apply for MORTAR is July 18
Held at Bounce Innovation Hub in Akron, MORTAR is a 15-week accelerator course for non-tech entrepreneurs and small business owners, with a focus on females and minorities. The program helps both existing and aspiring entrepreneurs learn the nuances of business ownership, build a comprehensive business canvas, and reach the goal of launching businesses that create jobs and circulate dollars locally.
The program focuses on entrepreneurs who are often ignored. By targeting under-served and redeveloping communities, it offers non-traditional or historically marginalized entrepreneurs the opportunity to use their talents to not just make a dollar, but to positively participate in the rise of Northeast Ohio.
The deadline to apply for the fall cohort is July 18. Classes begin August 18 and will be virtual due to the State of Ohio orders in response to the covid-19 pandemic. In-person classes will resume at Bounce as soon as it is feasible.
- Pitch Night: November 17
- Last class: November 24
- Classes occur every Tuesday, 6-8 p.m.
The cost is $295 for the entire 15 weeks with an 18-month alumni program to follow. The program will be facilitated by the Bounce staff, led by Ace Epps, director of inclusive entrepreneurship.
At this time, MORTAR at Bounce is only accepting FOR-PROFIT entrepreneurs and businesses. If you are a nonprofit seeking assistance, please contact Mike Jefferson at mjefferson@bouncehub.org to learn more about our other GROW programs.
