Richard N. Seaman graduated magna cum laude from Bowling Green State University, from which he also earned an M.B.A. He joined Seaman Corporation in 1968 as Plant Manager and subsequently served as its CEO for 40 years. Under his leadership, this industrial fabric family business increased its revenue from $10 million to over $150 million. As Chairman of the Board, Richard continues his oversight of the growing family business enterprise. In 2018 he founded the Aspen Racquet Club, a world class indoor facility that serves the Wooster area tennis and pickleball communities. He also oversees the family real estate activities.
Richard has chaired several industry organizations and, throughout his career, has been involved in community service. He served as Chairman of the Business Advisory Council for Wooster City Schools for 15 years. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of The College of Wooster and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. He was a member of the Board of Directors of First Merit Bank from 1998 to 2010.
Seaman Corporation was a recipient of the 2010 University of Akron Dean’s Excellence Award from the College of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering Department, as well as the 2010 Smart Business Evolution of Manufacturing Award. Richard was the 2013 Wooster Area Chamber of Commerce Business Wall of Fame recipient and selected by Ernst & Young as Entrepreneur of the Year for Northeast Ohio in 2015.
